The National Authority for Probity, Prevention and Fight against Corruption (INPPLC) organized an international seminar on "Extraterritorial Anti-Corruption Laws and Their Impact on Economic Dynamics" on 10 July 2026 in Tangier. The event brought together representatives of public institutions, Moroccan business leaders, and experts from the OECD, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Morocco to discuss the growing impact of extraterritorial anti-corruption legislation on the global economy.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mohamed Benalilou, President of the INPPLC, outlined that extraterritorial anti-corruption laws mark a significant shift in the global economic landscape, where integrity and compliance have become strategic requirements for international competitiveness, alongside quality, innovation and financial performance.

He recalled that, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, Morocco has made economic openness and integration into global value chains a strategic choice, supported by an institutional ecosystem designed to strengthen trust and promote good governance.

Mr. Benalilou added that Moroccan businesses seeking to expand into regional and international markets must now demonstrate not only the quality of their products and services, but also their integrity and their ability to manage legal and financial risks. In today's global economy, integrity has become a common benchmark for measuring institutional reliability and corporate reputation.

The President emphasized that the INPPLC considers business integrity to be a cornerstone of national economic security. In this regard, the Authority's strategic vision for supporting the private sector promotes a preventive approach that focuses on foreseeing risks. He also highlighted the importance of due diligence and the early identification of risk indicators, noting that many compliance risks arise through insufficiently assessed relationships with third parties.

Mr. Benalilou concluded that compliance should no longer be viewed solely as a legal obligation or a financial burden, but as a strategic investment that strengthens business sustainability and enhances long-term competitiveness. He reiterated the INPPLC's commitment to promoting a participatory approach that positions integrity as an investment in the future of businesses, the attractiveness of Morocco's economy and the country's growing role in the global economy.
